This short film by DANI&TING captures the essence of Daniel Rey’s live performance, Archipelago. Originally a 30-minute piece, the film distils its core themes and documents the performance in an accessible format.
Archipelago is an immersive exploration of human connection and collective experience, utilising sculptures, sound, light, and movement to explore the concept of an archipelago—representing both isolation and connection. It highlights the paradox of being separate yet part of a larger whole, where islands symbolise individual entities connected by unseen bonds. As the performers move with deliberate slowness and purpose, they create a meditative atmosphere that invites viewers to reflect on their place in the world, creating moments of introspection and connection.
The film was curated and commissioned by Symbiotic Encounters, a collective formed by Shuhan Chen, Mila Fernandez, Yuval Golan, Tim C Huang, Yeneul Kim, and Chaerin Lee.
Music was composed by Charles Nyiha, with photography by René Lazovy and graphic design by Beatriz Patarata. The performers featured in the film include Arturo Maciel Flecha, Walter di Campli, Borja Sansa Aizcorbe, Eduardo López, and Martin Sanchez Aguilera.
